Lucille Ann “LuAnn” (Pehlke) Brown, 74 of Allegan passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at Wings Home in Allegan.
LuAnn, as she was known to most, was born Jan. 19, 1944, in Allegan, the daughter of the late William and Lucille (Maskey) Pehlke. In her younger days, she enjoyed playing the drums and put her talent to good use playing in her high school band, marching band, dance band and was part of the orchestra for the theatre productions held at the Allegan Griswold Auditorium.
She loved being involved in things that centered around music, which may be why she married her true love, Donald Brown, and enjoyed 51 years together.
Living on Miner Lake for 50 years, Don and LuAnn liked to pontoon and take part of the typical “lake life.” They also spent time camping in the R.V. they purchased just so their four-legged kids could go with them.
Being an active person, LuAnn enjoyed bowling, golfing and being part of the Eagles Club and Lady Elks. These activities brought her great joy and many treasured friendships.
One of LuAnn’s true passions though was her love for animals—feeding the birds and squirrels as well as spending her time and energy raising money for Wishbone Pet Rescue.
As a working woman, LuAnn worked at the Brown Derby and the telephone company. During her employment at Michigan Bell and Ameritec, she was an executive secretary for 13 district managers and one division.
As a sideline job, LuAnn spent 16 years working for the Allegan County Fair in the Information and Paging Booth as well as organizing the “runners” for the stage shows. Though she liked to work, spending her time with her husband and fur babies brought her the most joy. She is remembered for her kind heart and gracious generosity.
Besides her loving husband, LuAnn leaves behind her treasured four-legged baby Misty and her sister, Martha “Marty” Ann Snow.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rosanne LeHive and her much loved babies, Cognac, Bacardi, Chablis, Brandy, Tara, and Margie Rita. Unfortunately, she was not able to be a grandma since all her babies had been spayed and neutered.
To respect LuAnn’s wishes, no services will take place.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to Wishbone Pet Rescue, P.O. Box 124, Douglas, MI 49406, wishbonepetrescue.org or Wings of Hope Hospice, 530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010. is Assisting the family with arrangements is Gorden Funeral Residence, www.gordenfuneral.com.
