Sylvia Susan “Sue” Vote, 74, was sent to live with Christ on Sept. 7, 2018. She believed in Him, accepted His saving power and was forgiven.
Sue was born April 5, 1944, in Allegan to Lloyd and Evangeline (Bowles) Martin. Raised at Allegan Bible Church, she attended Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music after graduation.
Sue married Dale Vote on Oct. 26, 1963, and was a member of Merson Church.
Her family includes daughters, Bobbie Vote and Penny Pratt; granddaughter Haven Pratt; and great-granddaughter Braylen Black.
Singing, playing instruments, teaching lessons, and accompanying were some of her favorite pastimes, as were cooking, baking, playing table games, fishing, and telling great stories.
She played flute in community events, including musicals by the Allegan Community Players, the Otsego Community Band, and the Kalamazoo Concert Band. She also played hammered dulcimer in the Thornapple Valley Dulcimer Society. Wonderful friends were made while serving musically at Otsego Baptist Academy, Chicora Country Chapel, and Horseshoe Community Bible Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother David Martin, and special friend Alice Stone.
A memorial service will be at Merson Church, 3313 102nd Ave., Gobles, on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. There will be a luncheon following. Private burial will be at a later date.
