Known to all as Khan, to some as “The Ambassador of Butler Stree”" and to the youth in his life a “The Pakistani Hipster, Shouket Khan passed away Oct. 11, 2020.

Even though Khan had traveled the world over, the small town feel of Saugatuck-Douglas is what made him plant his roots. He loved the morning banter with his fellow merchants, the familiar faces, and yes, even a little small town gossip.

Khan was colorful on the inside and what he wore on the outside. Many would say one of the best-dressed men they knew. He had a quiet dignity about him. A heart full of kindness and a respect for all he encountered.

He believed every interaction mattered. He easily crossed racial, religious, financial and political views and, in doing so, changed many perceptions on what it means to be Muslim.

Khan, you will be missed by many and we know you are a first-line candidate for heaven.

Shouket will be laid to rest in his family cemetery in his home country of Pakistan. Memorial arrangements are being made for a later date.
