Leroy David Miles, Jr., 88, of Allegan, MI passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Born October 6, 1931 in Conde, SD, he was the son of the late Leroy and Valois (Grandpre) Miles and was the husband of Joyce (Pittner) Miles. Leroy was a fifty-seven-year member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He served in the United States Navy and retired from Rockwell International where he had worked as a machinist. He belonged to the Machinist’s Guild for many years. Leroy was incredibly talented and had a knack for fixing things. He could build or fix anything in his shop, but especially loved rebuilding old Ford tractors.
In addition to his wife of sixty years, Joyce, Leroy is survived by their children, Anne Miles (Richard) Shutes, Steven David (Kathleen) Miles and John Patrick (Leslie) Miles; grandchildren, Jessica, Martin and Meghan and Harlan Miles; sisters-in-law, Doreen Miles and Mary Wason; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Doug, Andy and Kathy.
A memorial mass was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Inurnment followed in the church cemetery. Contributions in Leroy’s memory may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2036 20th Street, Allegan, MI 49010. Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
