Margaret Mabel Valdez, 86, of Allegan passed away among family Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at Briarwood Assisted Living.
Born Feb. 18, 1934, in Glennonville, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Eberhard) Hustedde, sister of Anthony, Marie, Jake, and Francie, and was the widow of the late Walter E. Valdez.
She attended St. Teresa Catholic School in Glennonville, Mo. Mrs. Valdez was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She graduated from St. Teresa High School in Glennonville, Mo., and then attended Sienna College in Memphis, Tenn. Mrs. Valdez continued her education at St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, also in Memphis, Tenn., and completed her schooling at St. Francis Hospital School of Anesthesia in Peoria, Ill., graduating in 1956. She worked for many years as a certified registered nurse anesthetist prior to retirement from Kalamazoo Anesthesiology PC in 2009.
Mrs. Valdez is survived by her children, Ricardo Valdez and his fiancee Dorrie Parker, and Pamela (Jim) Fachini; grandchildren Justin and his wife Leah, Anthony, Shelby, Walter and Giovanna; and great-grandchildren, Finley, Remi and Maxwell.
The family received family and friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Monday, July 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. where the Rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 14, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Simon Manjooran officiating. Interment followed at Blessed Sacrament Cemetery, Allegan.
Due to the COVID-19 virus, the family requested that social distancing and masks be utilized.
