Duane A. Anson, 90, of Plainwell passed away Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, with family at his side.
He was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Cooper, the son of Alfred and Bernice (Hughes) Anson.
Duane proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong resident of the area and had owned and operated a golf course in Cooper. In his free time Duane enjoyed golfing, woodworking, traveling, telling stories and jokes and seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On Oct. 28, 1950, in Kalamazoo he married Arlene Karr who passed away in 2014.
Surviving are his children, Brian (Dalene) Anson of Plainwell, Karen (Keith) Holt of St. Joseph and Lori Franko of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren, Jodi, Jessica, Cameron, Tyler and Riley; and six great-grandchildren, Madison, Grace, Olivia, Caleb, Carlee and Charis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings, Walter, Clark, Howard, Russell, Dale, Francis and Dorothy.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place.
Friends may visit with Duane’s family from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, at Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. Burial will take place at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, at West Cooper Cemetery.
