June (Earl) Leversee, 89, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Allegan County Medical Care Community.

June was born on June 7, 1930, to Homer and Katie Earl. She grew up in the Pullman/Fennville area until moving to Gobles following graduation from Fennville High School.

She married William A. Leversee and they had four children, Evonne, William A. Leversee Jr. (Bud), Betty, and Robin.

June started her working career at an early age, filling in as needed on the telephone switchboard that her family had in their home. June’s working years were highlighted by her time at Superior Market in Gobles; Friedlens Coat Factory in Allegan, where she was able to help with the bookkeeping that she enjoyed so much; and Allegan County Cable, where she worked at the front counter and became a friendly, familiar face to so many people in the community.

June worked hard for many years to provide for her family. She was a quiet but strong pillar of support for her children and would always help them as much as possible. The main priority in her life was to take care of her family, which she did with an abundance of love.

In her retirement, June enjoyed spending time with her family. She expanded on her quilting and crocheting skills, making many quilts for her family, as well as afghans or whatever else might come to her mind. In her more recent years, frequent lunches at the Village Inn and getting one of her daughters to take her on a nice long car ride to enjoy the countryside were some of the favorite parts of her days.

June was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Wanda; two brothers, Wilbur and Homer Jr.; and her son, Bud.

She is survived by three daughters, Eve Diskin (George Gant) of Allegan, Betty (Sietze) Wolters of Hamilton, and Robin (Craig) Pease of Bloomingdale; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Fred (Margie) Lantz.

June’s family will have a private burial service at the Kendall Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.  Friends and family are invited to join with us at a memorial luncheon at the Eagles Club of Allegan, 110 Chestnut St., on Saturday, Nov. 2, at noon.

June’s family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff of Medilodge of Holland and the Allegan County Medical Care Community for their excellent care. Many thanks as well to Wings of Hope Hospice for their support through this journey. Special thanks to Pastor Greg Carlson for his comforting visits that so brightened mom’s days.

Memorial contributions may be made in June’s name to Wings of Hope Hospice.
