Roger Donald Ratekin, 69, of Berkley passed away at his home on Monday, May 6, 2019. He was born Sunday, Feb. 26, 1950, in Ames, Iowa to Donald and Anna Ailee (Campell) Ratekin.
The family moved to Allegan, where Roger graduated from Allegan High School. He then graduated from Ferris State University where he was named Man of the Year in 1972.
Work brought him to Royal Oak where he met and married his loving and caring wife April (Koss) Ratekin on Feb. 25, 1978.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years April (Koss) Ratekin and their children Robert (Julie) Ratekin and Amanda (Jacob) Sullivan. He was the proud grandfather of Conor Sullivan and Davis Ratekin. He is also survived by his brother Bruce Ratekin, sister Jane Stephens and brothers-in-law Robert (Karen) Koss and Thomas Kowalski; as well as many nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.
He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Karen (Koss) Kowalski and his brother-in-law Gregory Stephens.
Memorial visitation will be Sunday, May 19, from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. Memorial Service at Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 12 Mile Road, Berkley (two blocks west of Woodard).
