James Earl Childs, 81, died Feb. 14, 2019, in Wilmington, Del.
As the old Chinese proverb goes:
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime.
Teach a man how to teach another man how to fish and you can feed the world.
Jim certainly did his part to teaching us all how to be better fisherman, along with advice for all life had to offer, making us all better individuals.
Jim was born in Grand Rapids and moved to Fort Pierce, Fla., shortly after retiring from AMFCO in Allegan, and then on to Wilmington, Del., shortly after the passing of his loving wife of 56 years, Pat Childs in March of 2013.
Jim loved the outdoors where he spent much of his time with his family; enjoying the events the different seasons had to offer, with a true love for gardening, fishing and hunting.
The children of Jim and Pat will always have fond memories of Christmas at our house with the Childs family and all of the in-laws; Summers spent at Lake Cecilia; and last of all, deer hunting season, which was like a national holiday. All of these life events will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Jim, we will certainly miss you, but know that our Heavenly Father has called you home.
