Thomas M. Balgoyen, 88, of Allegan passed away Monday, June 18, 2018, at Life Care Center in Plainwell. He was born March 24, 1930, in Allegan, the son of Thomas “Marvin” and Frances (McConney) Balgoyen.
Tom joined the United States Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957. He had worked at Philmore Equipment for 16 ½ years, Rockwell International for 30 years and had worked part time selling cars at the Allegan Chrysler Plymouth dealer for 10 years. Tom took pride in keeping his house and yard looking nice.
On June 21, 1954, in Burnips he married Barbara Bergman who survives. Also surviving are his sons, Greg (Kim) Balgoyen of Allegan and Jeffrey Balgoyen of Holland; three grandchildren, Jenna, Aubrey and Hailey; and his siblings, Bill of Allegan, Leonard of the Philippines and Laurel of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dean.
Friends may visit with Tom’s family on Thursday, June 21, starting at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Allegan, until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., with pastor Nathan Smith officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Hudson Corners Cemetery.
