Mary Ellen Simmons, 79, of Allegan went to be with her heavenly Father on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Holland Hospital.
Mrs. Simmons was born March 28, 1939, in Allegan, the daughter of the late William and Blanche (Thompson) Callaway.
Mary Ellen was a member of Life Circle. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and adult coloring books. She also spent her time embroidering pillow cases–a true lost art.
Some of her best times though were the times that she got to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary Ellen had a great way of making each of them feel special and loved. Her presence in their lives and her children’s lives made a true and lasting impact.
Mary Ellen is survived by three of her children, Cleve (Katie) Simmons, Richard Simmons (Shelly Johnson) and Mickey (Keith) Jackson; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Cleve Alonzo Simmons; their daughter Kandi Kay Simmons; and 12 siblings.
Friends may meet with the family on Thursday, April 26, from 10 to 11a.m.. at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. General David Grindale will officiate. Interment will be at Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Township.
