Eva Juanita Lewis, 102, a resident of Hope Landing in Charlotte and formerly of Plainwell and Allegan, passed away on Nov. 5, 2017, in Lansing.
She was born on May 19, 1915, to Harrison and Ruby (Witt) Kelso in Plainwell. She attended Plainwell High School, graduating in 1933.
Eva worked as a retail clerk for Sears Department Stores for many years. She enjoyed golf with her husband Leslie and they always walked the course; and the hotter the weather was the more they enjoyed it.
She loved to play Bridge, and had a keen eye for decorating the house. She could take the most unusual garage sale find and make it look like a priceless antique.
Eva is survived by her daughter-in-law, Agnes Lewis of Charlotte; four granddaughters, Lorin (Ian) Stewart of Charlotte, Jennifer “JJ” (Floyd) Brandt of Charlotte, Cara (Paul) David of Tempe, Ariz., and Elizabeth “Beth” Neveau of Lansing; three great-granddaughters, Madalyn and Kate Stewart of Charlotte and Peyton David of Tempe, Ariz.; four great-grandsons, Bo, Koda, and Cutler Brandt of Charlotte and Coleson J. David of Tempe, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie in 1994; her son John in 2014; her daughter-in-law Pam Lewis in 1980; and her four sisters, Virgina Allen, Maxine Stafford, Dortha Barton and Irene Stephenson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House or Hope Landing.
