Robert (Bob) D. Bentley, 80, died Sept. 10, 2017, in Alicante, Spain, following a brief illness.
He leaves his significant other of 27 years, Rosamaria Regalado; his brother, Charles A. Bentley (Christine); his son, Robert S. Bentley (Nicole); his daughter, Anne W. Bentley (George Petty); his grandchildren, Charles Petty, Cameron Bentley, and Dylan Bentley and Ana Haldimann and Reto Haldimann, Rosamaria’s children; and many cherished friends.
Born in 1937 and raised in Allegan, he was the son of Robert V. Bentley and Ethel L. Bentley (Green).
Bob graduated from Allegan High School in 1954, the University of Michigan in 1958, and the University of Virginia School of Law in 1961. He was a dedicated supporter of Michigan athletics, especially football. Go Blue!
After practicing law in New York City with White and Case, Bob co-founded Bottchi, Bentley, Evans and Gould, an executive search firm which later became Bentley and Evans. He later turned to international client development for GFTA in Dussledorf before retiring at age 48.
From 1964 to 1989, Bob lived in Chester and later, Mendham, N.J. He was an avid fan of his children’s youth sports teams and could be found on the sidelines or boards, his collar turned up, wearing a brimmed hat with his pipe in his mouth.
In retirement, Bob lived in Governor’s Harbor, Eleuthera, Bahamas, Tissano, Italy and Zurich, Switzerland before settling in San Juan de Alicante, Spain with Rosamaria.
