Joan D. Pike, 83, of Gobles went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Feb. 7, 2017.
Joan was born Dec. 21, 1933, the daughter of Milton and Alice (Frook) Shine in Cadillac. She went on to graduate from Mesick High School and County Normal Teacher's College.
In 1954, Joan married the love of her life, the late Pastor Gail Pike, and began her own special ministry for the Lord, more than 50 years as a pastor's wife at Merson Church. Throughout those years, Joan loved calling members of the church her "kids" and dear friends, as well as family and friends.
She was known for her piano playing, writing music, studying God's Word, speaking, and her gift of loving hospitality. She remained humble, both before the Lord and before those whose lives she touched through sharing Christ's love and grace.
Joan is survived by her son, Bill (Lynn) Pike; two daughters, Linda (Mike) Phillips and Sharon (Mike) Groth, all of Gobles; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ginger Olson (Chris) Heath of Tampa, Fla.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 11, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Merson Church, 3313 102nd Ave., Gobles, where a celebration of life service will follow at 11 a.m.
The family suggests memorials to either Merson Church or Great Lakes Hospice Foundation, 900 Cooper St.; Jackson, MI 49202.
Arrangements are being provided by the Bloomingdale Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home, www.dlmillerfuneralhome.com.
