Kimberly Ann Milbocker, 41, of Allegan was sent home on Wednesday, June 28, 2017. Kim, the daughter of Don and Jean (Beldon) Thompson, was born into this world, immediately making it brighter on July 2, 1975.

Kim was the first of four children. In this role she quickly learned to share with, to help, to teach, and be a caretaker for her three brothers. These traits she carried with her into adulthood, spending much of it serving as a nursing home administrator, a guardian for the community of Allegan, a 4-H Leader, and a caretaker for a village of friends.

Her selfless nature was contagious and therefore made the lives of all those she came into contact immensely better. Kim continued this legacy of giving even in her passing, giving herself through the Gift of Life.

Kim had many friends, her best friend being her mother, whom she spent over an hour on the phone speaking to every night. When Kim had time to herself, she enjoyed shopping, working in her gardens, running the farm, and spending time with all her animals.

She was the greatest of role models for so many and a blessing to all whom were fortunate enough to have known her.

Kim is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Patrick; their son Dakota; her parents, Don and Jean Thompson; three brothers, Ryan and Betty Thompson, Ike Thompson, and Sy and Ashley Thompson; eight nieces and nephews, McKenzie, Ava Jo, Autumn, Forest, Brooke, Maeve, Madeline, and Bryce; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Friends may meet with the family on Monday, July 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the funeral services will be at 1 p.m., officiated by her brother, Ike. Interment will follow in Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Township. A luncheon will follow immediately at Hartman Conference Center in Allegan.

In Kim’s memory, the family asks all to please consider signing up to be an organ donor and giving to Wings of Hope Hospice.

Rosalia (Rosa Mae) Speaker, 97, long time resident of Allegan, died on her wedding anniversary, June 26, 2017, in Beecher, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert who together with Rosalia built the A-frame they so loved on Lake Allegan.

She loved to celebrate Christmas in July at the lake house surrounded by her three daughters, Suzanne of Bartlett, Ill., Jeanette (James) of Oregon, Wisc., Anita McIlhany of Springfield, Ill.; her son Robert (Lynne) of Crete, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Rosalia was born May 30, 1920, in Fithian, Ill., and had four sisters and one brother with one sister surviving.

Rosalia was an avid golfer who loved to play at Cheshire Hills well into her 90s. She also belonged to a bowling league and bowled in the winter when she could not golf.

She made brown spaghetti, beef stroganoff, dill dip and homemade hot fudge to go on the gallons of ice cream she kept in her freezer. She told us in her next life she would have a huge kitchen with sharp knives and all the latest appliances. We hope that is so.

She was a member of the Allegan United Methodist Church and once received a standing ovation for her solo rendition of Sweet Little Jesus Boy at Christmas.

She accompanied her husband Robert for years on the piano when he gave private voice lessons in their Olympia Fields, Ill., home that they also built together.

Rosalia was a great seamstress who sewed winter coats, leisure suits and clothes for the grandchildren. She knitted sweaters for all the grandchildren as well.

She owned a red Mini-Cooper which she loved driving around town. After seeing the movie “The Italian Job” she announced that was the car she wanted to buy. It was the only Mini in Allegan at the time so she enjoyed the notoriety.

She loved doing jigsaw puzzles but hated the ones with too much sky. She would put in a piece and give it a tap with her finger.

She will be greatly missed by friends and family.

There will be a celebration of life in the Chicago area in the fall.

Anita I. Howes, 96, formerly of Plainwell, passed away July 26, 2017, in Middleville.  She was born in Cairo, Ill., to John E. and Ora A. (Johnson) DeWees and spent her

childhood in Anna, Ill. and Pontiac, graduating from Pontiac High School in 1939.

Anita married Jack A. Howes in October 1945, having corresponded with him during the war. He preceded her in death in December 2006. Her brother Gerald DeWees passed away in 1978.

Anita was a comptometer operator for General Motors during World War II. She worked for various counties early in her marriage and for the Kalamazoo Department of Social Services while her daughters were in high school and college. She served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and helped with 4-H and Vacation Bible School. She made wonderful pies and would take them to Gun River Conservation Club potluck dinners.

Anita and Jack enjoyed their cabin up north and going to auction sales. They often visited relatives on Sunday afternoons.

Anita loved to read and, along with her mother, researched family history. She was a lifetime member of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW.

Anita had a beautiful singing voice and played the trumpet when younger. She leaves her daughters with an appreciation for her resourcefulness and character. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are daughters, Patricia (Dennis) Faist and Sharon (Jack) Page; grandchildren James Faist and Julia Faist; and

great-grandson Easton Faist.

The family would like to thank the staff at Carveth Village Assisted Living in Middleville for their devoted care of Anita.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon, Monday, July 31, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
