Dan Robert Smith, 68, of Allegan, MI passed away Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Born February 19, 1952 in Pontiac, he was the son of the late Robert and Edith (Schindler) Smith and was the husband of Christine (Salva) Smith. Dan taught woodworking at Meridian High School in Sanford, MI for many years which he was deeply passionate about. He had an expansive woodworking shop in his barn as well. Dan was an avid outdoorsman and had especially loved hunting and fishing. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his two beautiful grandchildren, Brennan and Jake.
In addition to his wife, Christine, Dan is survived by his children, Laura Smith, Tom York and Tracey (Jeremy) Finney; his siblings, Bruce (Kathy) Smith, Jean McCormick and Susie (Mike) Hubert; and his grandchildren, Brennan and Jake Finney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edith Smith; and his brother-in-law, Charlie McCormick.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
