Edward Nathan Yetzke, 96

Edward Nathan Yetzke passed away April 4, 2020, surrounded by his family in Atlanta, Texas. He was 96, born in St. Joseph July 5, 1923.

He fought in World War II and was awarded the “Combat Infantry Badge” following the Luzon Campaign in the Philippines where he parachuted into enemy lines with the 11th Airborne paratroopers.

Ed is survived by his wife, Ruth (they celebrated their 50th anniversary last year) and sons Edward R. (Lori) Yetzke of Stevensville, John (Marge) Yetzke of Watervliet, Keith (Karla) Yetzke of Pullman, and Brian K. (Terry) Smith of Atlanta, Texas. He is survived by seven grandchildren, Todd (Carrie) Yetzke and Tricia (Charlie) Racine, Shane Yetzke, Chad Yetzke, Rebecca Smith, Amanda (William) Carter, Kelsey (Dylan) Smith; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Emma (Walters) Yetzke; son, Patrick Yetzke; granddaughter, Heather Metz; and all of his siblings.

He enjoyed fishing a lot, hunting, going to church, horse buggy rides with Pat Tomberlain, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family and friends.

A memorial will be held at a later date.

Edward Nathan Yetzke is being cremated under the direction of Queen City Funeral Home.
