Matthew John Junius Sr., 63, of Kalamazoo passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, at his home.
He was born Dec. 8, 1956, in Chicago to the late John and Geraldine Junius Sr.
Matthew was a 1976 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Chicago. Matthew was a member of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed working as a long haul truck driver for Roadway and McVan kampen for 30-plus years. Matthew was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a semi truck rodeo competitor, and a Union Member of the Teamsters. He enjoyed simple pleasures of chatting with friends and family and spending time with his two dogs Coco and Rocko.
He married Jancie M. Vater on March 23, 2002.
He is survived by his beloved wife, five children, and 10 grandchildren. Mathew’s children are Matthew Jr. (Lindsay), Patrick (Caitlyn), Megan (Chris), Anthony, and Angel. His grandchildren are Traighton, Caleb, Avah, Gavin, Aidan, Layla, Ashlyn, Aydan, Logan, and Ethan.
A memorial service will be Nov. 15, 2019, at 11 a.m. St. Margaret Catholic Church, 766 Farmer St., Otsego.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted and given to the Knights of Columbus.
