Nina Mae (Steffes) Bergholtz, 87, of Allegan passed away Friday, June 28, 2019, at Vicinia Gardens in Otsego.
Born March 22, 1932, in Ontonagon, she was the daughter of the late Sebastian and Mary (Burns) Steffes and was the wife of the late William C. Bergholtz.
Mrs. Bergholtz was a member of the graduating class of 1951 from Otsego High School. She worked as a bank teller and retired from PNC Bank, formerly First National Bank of Allegan.
She was a longtime, dedicated member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she found great joy in tending to the gardens, arranging the flowers for mass and coordinating the funeral luncheons.
Mrs. Bergholtz and her husband were avid campers. They loved to travel, especially to northern Michigan or to their winter home in Indialantic, Fla.
Mrs. Bergholtz is survived by her children, Kathy Brown, Mike Bergholtz and Eric Huff. She is also survived by her childhood pen-pal and lifelong friend Joan Clutten. The pair traveled across the Atlantic between the United States and United Kingdom to visit one another throughout the years.
Along with her parents, Sebastian and Mary, and her husband of 60 years, William, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law Russell Brown.
The family will receive friends at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 9, from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A memorial mass will begin at 11 a.m. and inurnment will follow at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Cemetery.
