John “Jack” R. Nash, 84, passed away in his home, surrounded by family, on May 31, 2019, at 2:55 p.m.
Jack was born on Oct. 5, 1934, in Allegan, to Barbara Maxine Nash. He married Carolyn “Susie” (Walker) Nash on Oct.27, 1967, in Fennville.
Jack is survived by his son Josh Nash of Mishawaka, Ind. and three daughters, Tonya Nash of Vicksburg, Kelly (Loren) Fairbotham of Mishawaka, Ind., and Challice (David) Dixon of Grand Rapids. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren, Jordan Nash of San Francisco, Calif., Chandler Nash of Shelby Township, Joseph (Derrick) Fairbotham of Elkhart, Ind., Austin Dixon of Chicago, Ill., Landan Nash of Rochester, Jesse Fairbotham of Mishawaka, Ind., Arianna Dixon of Santiago, Spain and Connor Nash of Shelby Township; and one great-grandchild Kavon Fairbotham of Elkhart, Ind.
Jack was a graduate of Allegan High School and Albion College. Jack courageously served in the United States Army for two years after graduating. He retired from Rockwell International after 35 years of service in 1989. Jack enjoyed golf, but his greatest love was harness racing and his horses. He was a member of the Michigan Harness Horsemen Association.
Visitation for Jack will be on Friday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Directly following are services from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. The family would like to invite visitors to a celebration of life at “The Silo” at The Grill House at 1 p.m.
Memorials donated in Jack’s honor may be given to Heartland Hospice Services of South Bend.
