Sandra Kay Wuis, 40, of Allegan passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Allegan General Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born Dec. 7, 1978, in Zeeland, Sandra was the daughter of Sally (Gruppen) Ashley and William Ashley, wife of John Wuis and stepmother to Hunter Blake. She worked at various companies in the customer service industry and hoped to someday work with animals.
Being in the outdoors brought Sandra much joy and she would often go walking or hiking, again being around animals and nature. She also was a great tennis player.
As far as indoor activities, Sandra enjoyed cooking (being known as somewhat of a food snob) and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy (which those close to her knew that you did not interrupt her shows).
She had a loving spirit and thoroughly enjoyed her life and time with her family. Even though their time together was cut short, the love and memories shared during her time on earth will be cherished.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband John; stepson Hunter Blake; her mother Sally Gruppen Ashley; her father and stepmother, William and Joy Ashley; her father- and mother-in-law, Joseph and Carol Wuis; her sisters, Shelley Lemoine and Sheri (Ken) Bronkema; stepbrothers, Jeff Moored and Tim Moored; sisters-in-law, Rinda (Ron) Wahmhoff and Renee (Jeff) Fonnet; nieces and nephews, Ryder Lemoine, Zoe and Konner Bronkema, Evan and Will Wahmhoff, Josh and Zoe Fonnet; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and above all her beloved dog Uma.
Friends will visit with the family at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Friday, March 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at Dunningville Reformed Church on Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m., Pastor Barry Lucas officiating. Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery, Heath Township.
