Leona Faye Carper, 82, of Douglas passed away Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018.
She retired from H.J. Heinz in 2002 after 29 ½ years of service. She was a strong believer in hard work and being responsible. Before her loss of vision, her past times were reading, playing bingo, crosswords, puzzles and quilting.
Her children and grandchildren were her top priorities. She looked forward to Sunday dinners and having visitors in for coffee. The highlight of her week was listening to the radio broadcast of the Saugatuck High School sports. Her grandchildren were very involved with the sports and band program.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard E. Carper in 2011.
She is survived by her children, Sheila and Michael Doucette of Douglas, Phillip and Annette Carper of Fennville, Keith A. Carper of St. Joseph and Jeffrey and Mary Carper of Holland; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Dykstra Funeral Home–Saugatuck Chapel, 520 Lake St., Saugatuck. Rev. Jeff Messner will officiate. Burial will be at Douglas Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday, Feb. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dykstra Funeral Home - Saugatuck Chapel.
