Jacalyn S. van Melle, 60, of Allegan went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 14, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Jackie, as most know her by, was born on July 31, 1956, in Allegan to the late Robert and Carol (Waanders) Germain.
She proudly served her country in the U.S. Army and went on to earn her associate degree. Jackie worked as a dental hygienist for the offices of Dr. David Buis and Dr. Eric Erickson, where people enjoyed going to the dentist just to get to visit with her.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and for many years assisted the praise band with her voice. Jackie enjoyed knitting and would share many of her beautiful handiwork with her family and friends. She also loved spending time gardening.
She was a treasured friend to many and a dear and loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. Her spunkiness and generous spirit will truly be missed.
Jackie leaves behind her husband, Craig; six children, Jared, Betsy, Greg (Emily) and Gavin Bergeron and Brad (Alison) and Justin van Melle; three grandchildren, Ruby, Josiah and Weston; her brother, Rob Germain; and many other relatives and close friends.
A gathering will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 631 Grand St., Allegan on Thursday, July 20, from 5-7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in Jackie’s name to Wings of Hope Hospice, Wings Home or Immanuel Lutheran Church. Inurnment will take place at Sheep of the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Watson Township.
Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
