Eugene "Ed" Overmyer Jr., 77, of Allegan passed away Monday, June 12, 2017, at his home.
Ed was born May 4, 1940, in Marion, the son of the late Eugene and Helen (Kinnunen) Overmyer. After high school, Ed went on to earn his engineering degree and became a member of the Chi Epsilon, a high honor for engineers. He spent his career as a structural engineer working for Commonwealth Associates, Inc.
In 1961, Ed married the love of his life Donna Finkel and spent 56 years together raising their children and enjoying their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Allegan and loved fishing, camping and spending quality time with his family.
Ed is survived by his wife Donna; their children, Kirk and Margit Overmyer, Kristen Hawkins and Erik Overmyer; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister Marlene Overmyer.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Terry Overmyer.
A memorial service was will be Friday, June 16, at the First Congregational Church in Allegan at 12 p.m. Interment will be at Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Township.
