Lois Sylvia Ellinger, 101, of Monterey Center, passed away March 20, 2017, at her home in Grand Rapids.
Born June 18, 1915, Lois saw everything from the horse drawn carriage to the age of the Internet. She was a farmer, a teacher and a horticulturist.
Lois loved her family, her Koi pond, and birds (especially hummingbirds).
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Milton Ellinger; her parents William and Sylvia Commans; her sister Wilma Commans; sister and brother-in-law Russell and Neva Coffey; son-in-law James Oliver; and granddaughter Tina Oliver.
She is survived by her son Dean Ellinger (Susan), her daughter Sharon Oliver; grandchildren, Lisa Hendricks (Mark), Stephanie Fast (Brandon), Nicholas Ellinger (LaToya), Judy Fratwell (Brian) and Kathy Oliver; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Tobey, Elliott, Riyonna, Nick, Angelina, Christina, Kirsty and Jim.
A celebration of life will be on Wednesday, March 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. (with a special tribute at 2:30 p.m.) at Holland Home Fulton Manor, 1450 E. Fulton, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
