Catherine M. McManus, 58, of Allegan passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Wings Hospice Home in Allegan. Born Nov. 18, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Timothy M. McManus, M.D. and Marjorie McManus.
Cathy graduated from Paw Paw High School, Class of 1975, and went on to earn a BA from Western Michigan University, continuing her education with two masters' degrees in special education administration and school psychology. She worked as a school psychologist for the ISD from 1984 to 1999; then worked for the Allegan Public School District until 2015 for a total of 31 years.
Cathy's passions were Boy Scouts of America in which she was very active and she loved to travel, taking her kids on many adventures.
She is survived by her children, Anna and Nick McManus of Allegan; her mother Marjorie McManus of Haslett, brothers and sisters-in-law, Timothy and Terrilyn McManus of Ann Arbor and Terrence and Patti McManus of Haslett; four nieces, Leah, Tracy, Keelin and Kira McManus; three stepsisters and stepbrother, Cindy Brisky Broadway and Terri, Cathy and Mike Brisky.
Cathy expressed her wish for cremation and to have her ashes scattered in the ocean, which will be granted by her brother who makes frequent trips to visit a daughter in the State of Washington. At her request there will be no formal memorial service.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to Wings of Hope Hospice, 530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010, or to one's favorite charity.
