Ruth L. Hayes, 77, of Douglas passed away Friday Jan. 27, 2017. Ruth was born Nov. 16, 1939, in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Grace and Arthur Green.
For many years, Ruth worked for the Allegan County jail, a job she loved. Before her job at the Allegan County jail, Ruth was a teachers aide at Pine Trails Elementary School in Allegan.
In her spare time Ruth enjoyed reading, word finding puzzles, and crossword puzzles. There wasn't a day that went by that she didn't watch her two favorite game shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was a whiz at guessing the answers and word statements on those two shows.
Surviving are her children, Donny, David, Deborah, Carol, Cindy, and Karen; siblings, Dorthy, Shirley, Darlene, Peg, Linda and Jimmy; grandchildren Mark, Amanda, Ashlee, Brandy, Bridget, David, Angie, Kayesea, Donny, Ryan, Jason, Travis, Melina, Tabatha and Jeri Beth; and several great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her son Dwayne, father Arthur, mother Grace and brother Steve.
A burial and memorial for friends and family will be arranged at a later date.
