Jean E. Prestage, 92, of Allegan passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Allegan County Medical Care Community. Mrs. Prestage was born Sept. 13, 1923, the daughter of the late Glenn D. and Fannie H. (VandeBunte) Gorden.
Jean was a Class of 1941 graduate from Allegan High School and went on to attend college in Grand Rapids. She was a devoted wife, marrying Doug Prestage on Feb. 21, 1946, and raising a family together until his passing in 2013.
Together, Jean and Doug operated a blueberry farm in Cheshire Township for more than 40 years. Jean loved being outdoors and enjoyed the blueberry farm. She spent time growing beautiful flowers around their home and loved being with her dogs.
Jean's father was one of the previous owners of Gorden Funeral Residence and she loved to reminisce about her days living at the funeral home and sharing her memories with her family and friends.
Jean was a loving and wonderful lady who brought joy and happiness to others. She was fortunate to live a full life and was loved by so many.
Jean is survived by her children, Glenn and Nancy Prestage, Lynn Ann Kehoe, Marcia Johnson and James and Melanie Prestage; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Phillip "Doug" Prestage and sister Ruth Merrill.
Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, May 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the funeral service will be Thursday, May 26, at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
