Dr. Michael Condron, 71, of Saugatuck left all earthly worries behind on Wednesday morning Nov. 23, 2016. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Patricia Denner, his sister Anne and brother- in -law Timmy Geraghty.
Michael was born in Dublin, Ireland, on Nov. 21, 1945. He completed medical studies at University College Dublin before coming to the United States where he completed an internship at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. He did his residency at Hennepin Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn. where he specialized in emergency medicine. As one of the first accredited consultants in what was then a new specialty, he joined Valley Emergency Physicians and practiced in St. Joseph's Medical Center in South Bend and later South Bend Clinic.
Besides being a highly-skilled, caring and compassionate M.D., everyone who knew him was taken by his wit, engaging manner and his enthusiasm for life.
Michael was a great adventurer and world traveler. He liked nothing more than being with friends and enjoying good food and fine wine.
Another love was cycling, especially long-distance treks. Ten years ago, while doing what he loved, he sustained a spinal cord injury, which left him a quadriplegic. Michael bore his condition with his typical courage, fortitude and good humor. Besides Pat, Anne, Tim and their children, Sarah, Michael and Kate; Michael leaves behind Pete and Shelly Denner and their sons, Seth and Luke; as well as Ed and Julie Denner and their sons, Jason and Aaron.
He will be profoundly missed by his many, many close friends in the Midwest of the USA and by relations and friends in Ireland with whom he maintained close contact.
Michael formed professional and personal relationships with all those who cared for him during the last 10 years of his life, including his nurses, personal trainers, doctors and therapists.
One of the best decisions Pat and Michael ever made was to move to Saugatuck where they met the most incredible people who embraced them, celebrated great times with them and supported them through adversity. There will forever be a corner spot in Coral Gables known as "Dr. Mike's corner."
A memorial service has taken place.
